Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN (Neokpao-Alezo) on August 1 denied reports circulating on social media that an arrested man from Zunheboto district was a member of the organisation, describing the claim as false and misleading.
In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity, the organisation said news reports relating to the arrest of Hokito Yeptho of Xukhepu village had identified him as a "LEACY" member belonging to "Unification (Kitovi)", which it said was incorrect.
The organisation also objected to the alleged use of the term "Unification" by the officer-in-charge of Diphupar Police Station in reference to the Kitovi group.
It maintained that there is only one organisation recognised as "Unification", led by President Gen. (Retd.) MB Neokpao Konyak and Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh.
The statement further claimed that Kitovi had publicly renounced the "Unification" nomenclature following his impeachment, making the reported reference inaccurate.
The organisation urged government authorities and concerned agencies to verify facts before issuing or disseminating information, saying inaccurate statements undermine public trust and social harmony.
It also cautioned that any recurrence of such alleged misrepresentation could compel the organisation to take appropriate action against those responsible.
