GPRN/NSCN refutes kidnapping businessman

Dimapur, February 19 (MExN):  The GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) has denied that its cadres kidnapped an Assamese businessman, one James Goyary, for ransom as stated by the Assam Rifles. The security force had said yesterday that the businessman was rescued from Burma camp in Dimapur on the 17th.

A note from the underground group received here today called the Assam Rifles’ charge “completely false allegation with a figment of imaginary illusion.” The businessman was someone who “deals in transaction of black money” and “luring innocent people with false promises.” The group further asserted that the businessman ‘disappeared’ after “Having taken a lot of money from people with a promise to double back their actual amount.”

According to the ‘MIP’ of the GPRN/NSCN “James had come to Dimapur two years back but was never stationed in one place. He moved from one town to another, luring innocent people with false promises.” Promising “a double back amount of the money deposited,” the group said, “People like James entice people who want to make quick money overnight.

Having taken a lot of money from people with a promise to double back their actual amount, James had disappeared.”

The MIP asserted that the GPRN/NSCN apprehended James and “kept him in their custody for interrogation.” James was “not kidnapped for ransom or extortion” and “nor was he detained for demand” and the Rs. 5 lakh which the Assam Rifles had mentioned “was not ransom money, but in fact, the amount that James had taken from the victims,” the MIP asserted. “It was a recovery money and not as mentioned. If witnesses in this case are needed, the church members of the Kachari Baptist Church, Purana Bazaar Dimapur can be contacted,” it asserted.

The group has accused the Assam Rifles of attempting to “malign the image of the GPRN/NSCN.” “Our one wonder is also the rapidness of James being released by the Police and Assam rifles and giving press statements which is false. It makes us only come to one conclusion. That James is working in collaboration with them in running Black money business in and around Nagaland,” the note added.
