DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): Kilo Kilonser of the GPRN/NSCN-Unification (Neokpao-Alezo), HuvitoYepthomi has expressed shock and dismay over the incident involving the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes, “which reportedly resulted in the destruction of properties belonging to both the communities and the loss of one innocent life.”
A press release from the Kilo Kilonser said that such an incident is “deeply regrettable and wholly unwarranted, particularly at a critical juncture when the Naga people are earnestly striving for peace and an honourable, lasting settlement of the Indo-Naga political problem.”
He appealed to both tribes and respective communities to exercise the utmost restraint, refrain from retaliatory actions, and avoid any conduct that may further aggravate the situation. “It is imperative that all concerned act with maturity, prudence and a spirit of reconciliation to prevent escalation and preserve the sanctity of Naga brotherhood,” the press release stated.
The Kilo Kilonser urged both communities to “uphold the values of forgiveness, compassion and peaceful coexistence.” “Differences and grievances must be addressed through mutual understanding, constructive dialogue and established customary mechanisms, rather than through confrontation or violence,” he stated
He also appealed to national workers belonging to both the tribes to maintain strict neutrality, exercise responsible judgement and refrain from any action that could prejudice peace or deepen divisions. “Their impartiality and commitment to peace are essential to fostering mutual trust, unity and integrity, whilst preserving the longstanding of peaceful coexistence between the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes as brothers,” the statement added.
