Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said that the Nagaland state’s GST collections as of 31st January 2026, stood at Rs.987.38 crore, exceeding the 2025-26 target of Rs.949 crore reflecting strong revenue performance and robust growth during the financial year.
“I am pleased to say that in this financial year up to December 2025, Nagaland has recorded the highest GST growth in India at 37%, far above the national average of 6.8%, a rare distinction which has been achieved through systemic, technology-driven, and data-led reforms by the Government,”
Nagaland Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla in his address to 8th session of 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) in Kohima said that the state government shares the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and aspires to transform Nagaland into a developed State by 2047.
“While recognising our distinct characteristics, we are committed to leveraging our unique strengths to become an effective partner in the national journey towards Viksit Bharat. Accordingly, a High-Level Steering Committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary has been constituted for the formulation of the Viksit Nagaland @2047 document, supported by five (5) Sectoral Working Groups (SWGs) to undertake focused analysis, strategy development and stakeholder engagement in their respective sectors,” he said.
‘Government is committed to peace’
Bhalla said that the Government is committed to peace and good law and order situation in the state.
He thanked the district administration, police, security forces for their commendable efforts for maintenance of law and order.
He also thanked all the tribal bodies and civil society organizations for their support and cooperation in the interest of peace and social harmony in the State.
“Our State Police continues taking further steps to address ongoing and emerging security concerns and enhance its capabilities. A sustained enforcement under the NDPS Act is being carried out and a total of 157 cases were registered for offences under NDPS Act during 2025 leading to the arrest of 260 persons,” he said.
The State Police has a dedicated Cyber Crime Cell and National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal for cybercrime prevention enabling real-time reporting, monitoring, intelligence sharing and case tracking.
For further improvement of law and order and tackling drug trafficking, the MHA has recently sanctioned installation of more than 1400 AIenabled ANPR and CCTV cameras in Dimapur and Kohima.
