The Kohima High Court Kohima Bench (GHCKB) is set to hear two important matters on Wednesday, including the first writ petition concerning the appointment of Assistant Professors in Nagaland, filed in 2022.
According to the causelist published on the GHCKB website, the petition concerning the Assistant Professor (WP(C)/340/2022) issue will be resumed as a 'fixed' hearing under Justice Yarenjungla Longkumer.
During the previous hearing on March 20, the Court had extended the interim order that had been issued earlier, prohibiting the regularisation of 34 assistant professors listed as respondents in the case. However, with recent developments suggesting a potential violation of the order, it remains to be seen how the court will address the situation.
A batch of petitions on the similar issue is slated for next hearing in May.
Meanwhile, the matter concerning the alleged sexual harassment charges against state bureaucrat Reny Wilfred is listed in the 'Supplementary Causelist' as a writ petition (criminal).
According to the court's record, the petition was filed on April 15.
The Indian Administrative Service officer has denied the allegagtion but the Nagaland Police has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the issue after registering a case.
