Head Hunters lift Loyem Memorial Senior Soccer Open Championship

Tuensang, October 15 (DIPR): The final match of 19th Edition of Loyem Memorial Senior Soccer Open Championship 2011 Tuensang was played on October 14 between the Head Hunters 164 Naga and Hongkong Sporting Club Bumbak where the Head Hunters defeated the Hongkong Sporting by 3 goals to 2 and bagged the championship title 2011.
The match was equally competitive and trilling and entertaining both the teams displayed their standard and skills. Before the lemon break the Hongkong Sporting were in advantage of 1 goal they scored their first goal in the 43rd minutes by Meren, jersey no. 8 and again in the 2nd half in the 46th minutes the 2nd goal was scored by Salu jersey no. 11 however, the Hongkong club could not defend their 2 goals advantage. The Head Hunter team came back in a well organized tactic and attack in the 2nd half of the match where they scored 2 goals the first goal in 53rd minutes by Keho jersey no. 8 and again in the 64th minutes by Tiayanger jersey no. 15, as a result the match end in a 2 – 2 draw in the stipulated 90 minutes match. The match went for extra 30 minutes time where the most important goal was again scored by Tiayanger jersey no. 15 for his team.
The tournament was declared open by Parliamentary Secretary IPR, Economic & Statistics, R. Tohanba on 24th September 2011 and the closing program was graced by Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, T. Mhabemo Yanthan NCS. In the closing address, the chief guest appreciated the organizers and the participating teams and all the public in general for making the tournament a succeed as this tournament is an annual event that enables the fellow sports person staying far and wide to developed a sense of good will, understanding and cultural affinity. He also called upon them to strive harder to cultivate oneness in the midst of our diverse dialect, custom and tradition. He also said, as skilled player who exhibits his brain in his toes as well as his head is definitely a better developed person to overcome any type of hurdles that he may face in life and expressed that he was anxiously looking forward to see a new generation of sportsmen rise for the bright of the district in particular and also the State in general.
Earlier in the programme President CCSU, Y. Hongking delivered the Presidential address and Secretary Games & Sports CCSU, Y. Toshi gave the vote of thanks.
In the tournament the following individual award were also given: Golden boot  (highest scorer) was bagged by Pushun from Khulioh King Club Tuensang and Golden Ball (Best player) was given to Satish Kumar from the 1st Assam Rifles Tuensang.
