Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): A two-day health initiative focusing on health awareness, preventive healthcare and community well-being was organised at Grace Nursing & Health Sciences Institute (GNHSI), a unit of TSAO Grace Educational Welfare Foundation, at Padumpukhuri village, Dimapur in collaboration with Medanta-The Medicity, Gurugram.
The programme began with a breast cancer awareness session for students of Grace Nursing & Health Sciences Institute.
The session was conducted by an expert team from Medanta comprising Dr Rupak Das and senior nurse Suzy Hazel Pyngrope, along with Watikumla Amlari, Principal of GNHSI.
The session focused on breast cancer awareness, the importance of early detection and the need for timely medical consultation. It was interactive and provided GNM students with information and practical understanding of breast health and preventive healthcare.
The second day of the initiative, held on August 8, featured a free health check-up camp at the institute's campus in Padumpukhuri village.
Organised as a community outreach programme, the camp aimed to promote better health and well-being and encourage people to adopt preventive healthcare practices.
Students, faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff of the institute, along with community members from the Padumpukhuri area, availed themselves of various free healthcare services.
The services included consultation by a specialist doctor, blood pressure check-up, random blood sugar testing, electrocardiogram (ECG), bone mineral density (BMD) testing and pulmonary function testing (PFT).
The programme emphasised early detection, prevention and regular health screening as important components of maintaining a healthy community.
Speaking on the occasion, Er T SAO Sangtam, Director of TSAO Grace Educational Welfare Foundation, expressed gratitude to the Medanta team for travelling to Dimapur and extending its expertise and support for both the breast cancer awareness programme and the free health check-up camp.
He also appreciated the faculty members, staff and volunteers of GNHSI for their dedication and contribution towards the successful conduct of the two-day programme.
Sangtam particularly thanked the Village GB of Padumpukhuri for extending cooperation and support in organising the health camp for the local community.
He also expressed gratitude to the Almighty for the successful completion of the programme and appreciated the Medanta team for its professional expertise, commitment and support.
The initiative reflected the commitment of TSAO Grace Educational Welfare Foundation and GNHSI towards promoting health awareness among students and extending healthcare services to the surrounding community, the organisers said.
They expressed hope that similar initiatives would continue in the future to encourage early detection, regular health check-ups and preventive healthcare, contributing to a healthier society.
