Health Minister takes up request for more MBBS and BDS seats

Kohima, June 4 (MExN): In continuation to the representation submitted to the Nagaland State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom with a prayer for acquiring additional seats to MBBS and BDS courses for Nagaland State, the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) held a discussion with the concerned Minister at his official residence on June 4.  

The Minister, after receiving the representation from ANCSU apprised the union that he has taken the matter “very seriously as it is for the greater interest of the students’ community,” stated a press release issued by ANCSU General Secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso and Assistant General Secretary, Imnameren N Jamir.  

While taking serious intervention, the Minster informed the union that a meeting was convened for the said subject with his department officials. Furthermore, the department will be writing to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for acquiring more MBBS & BDS seats and the Minister along with his officers is to leave early next week to meet and pursue the matter with the higher authority at centre.  

The ANCSU also apprised the minister on the seat availability under North East Council (NEC) and requested for the intervention of the Minister in this regard. Meanwhile, the Union has acknowledged the Minister for “taking seriously to the union’s representation for the greater interest of the Naga student’s.”
