Kiphire | October 27
In a boost for the ailing healthcare sector in Kiphire district, the new district hospital building (extension), Kiphire is all set to be inaugurated within a few weeks time.
This will come as a sigh of relief for the citizens of Kiphire as they can now expect better health care with upgraded infrastructure along with better facilities. While the old building is a 37-bedded hospital, the new complex will be a 37- bedded one, taking to a total of 74.
Sharing the action plans of the new hospital complex, officials of District Hospital Kiphire (DHK) disclosed that a ‘fully functional’ operation theatre will be in place besides separate rooms for x-ray and ultrasound in the new building. Another space has already being earmarked for blood bank which is an added bonus, the officials added.
It is also learnt that the DHK is expecting physiotherapy equipments once it is shifted to the new building. Further sources from the establishment also disclosed that new building will have different wards with more space to enhance better health care quality and will strictly follow ‘one patient one attendant.’
Also sharing concern on the responsibility of the public, the DHK officials hoped that the public takes ownership of the new building and make efforts to keep the hospital clean and tidy so that the institution is able to provide the best service to the citizens.
The DHK officials also wanted that the public fully utilize the healthcare services provided by the government health institution in place instead of complaining from a distance about lack of facilities. They also expressed disappointment that hardly any organization or the civil societies come forward to partner for changes expect to complain or criticize.
Towards this, the DHK officials said it’s time “we change our mindset and start encouraging each other so that we usher in positive changes for a healthy life.”
Meanwhile, expressing gratitude to the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, the DHK officials said the Director of H& FW has not only extended all possible support but has been stationed in Kiphire since the last couple of days to personally supervise the ongoing work.
