Help Nagas in Myanmar: BJP

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 23 (MExN): The Nagaland state unit of the BJP today stressed on the urgent need to improve development and infrastructure in the border between Nagaland and Myanmar, for peace and stability in the region. The BJP, in a press note, stated that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio’s recent visit to Myanmar has “highlighted the problems and plight of Nagas in Myanmar.” Terming the CM’s visit as “historic,” the BJP said that the visit will help to enhance India-Myanmar bilateral ties and bring people of both the countries closer. Meanwhile, the party appealed for the Government of India and the Prime Minister to continue to “extend help and support to the suffering Naga people in Myanmar, in order to bring more development and progress.”
