
Medicine dealers granted intervention in Referral Hospital case

DIMAPUR: The Guwahati High Court has scheduled November 11 as the date for the next hearing on the NDA’s PIL challenging the tripartite agreement between the Nagaland Government, the Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) and Christian Medical Centre (CMC), Vellore. Neither the Medical Minister Dr TM Lotha nor the litigants from either side could make available their comments on the latest developments on grounds of busy schedules.
Meanwhile, the Court has also granted the Nagaland Medicine and Drug Dealers Association, intervention in the ongoing case between the Nagaland Doctors Association and the Government of Nagaland pertaining to the referral Hospital issue. According to Judicial sources, the High Court granted intervention to the medicine dealers in the case despite strong protests from the Advocate General, sitting for Nagaland State who is reported to be against the move.
The Court has reportedly asked the medicine dealers to file a court affidavit by November 11 next. It must be mentioned that medicine dealers in Nagaland had also filed a separate PIL challenging the aforementioned MoU.
