
Patkai alumni, Ajungla gets direct entry into Indian Foreign Service

DIMAPUR: A feat that will now go down into the record books, Miss T. Ajungla Jamir has now been officially selected to the prestigious Indian Foreign Service based on her recent performance at the Civil Service Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the results of which was declared recently. By her feat, Ajungla will become the first ever girl from Nagaland to join the elite Foreign Service through direct recruitment, which is indeed a historic achievement to be taken note of.
Ajungla who is a PhD student from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) when contacted informed to The Morung Express that she had received the official letter confirming her selection to the IFS. “I feel very happy and would really like to thank God for this wonderful blessing, and would also like to thank my family and well-wishers”, Ajungla said over telephone from Delhi where she is now preparing for her Foundation Course in Mussoorie, which begins from August 22.
When told that she would also be the first lady from Nagaland to get direct entry into the Foreign Service, Ajungla said she was privileged and honored for this opportunity coming her way. She further informed that the formal letter of appointment from the Ministry of External Affairs was expected soon.
Although Ajungla’s selection into the IFS would be the first for a lady from Nagaland, it must be mentioned that Miss Neichulieu Nikki Haralu was the first Ambassador to be appointed by the Government of India.
Ajungla was born and brought up in Dimapur. She is from Mopungchuket village under Mokokchung district.
Her father is a Superintendent of Excise while her mother is a home maker. She did her schooling from St Paul’s School and graduated from Patkai Christian College.
