‘History is made by individual, not community’

Dimapur, Dec 11 (MExN): Addressing on the occasion of Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland (JVSN) three day Prantiya Karyakarta Samelan (State Level Workers’ Conference) closing ceremony today at Town Hall as the Chief Guest, Governor Shyamal Datta expressed his happiness for the committee for initiating such programme and recognizing the rich cultural society of the State. He appreciated the committee for extending felicitation to veteran social workers and honoring them for their individual efforts. “History is made by individual who shows the way, inspire us and make the society a better place with effortless services and not by a community”, quoted the Governor.

In today’s programme, the JVSN felicitated five outstanding persons for their philanthropic social works and contribution towards the society.  Late Captian Neikezhakuo Kenguruse, Late N. C Zeliang, Zaphutuo Angami, Manik Bhattacharji and Piyong Temjen Jamir were the five recipients of Certificate of Honour by the Governor. The Governor also emphasized on the cultural pluralism exhibited through the programme held today. He added that the JVSN was not a committee for propagation of Hindi language but to bring different cultures together and experience the cultural pluralism. He also said that inter-cultural events should take place while maintaining that no culture can sustain if it remains excluded. “The JVSN has provided a bridge of conference of different walks of cultural lives and with the passage of time, the bridge will be strong enough to bring peace and prosperity”, said Shyamal Datta. He further emphasized on youth empowerment to execute and to be diversified in different sources of life and urged the government to come forward and lend something to the youths. He also appealed the youths to explore the natural sources of the land where the wealth lies for which the society should improve and channelise certain guidance and increase the perception management. 

Thunbui Zeliang, Joint secretary, JVSN delivered a brief report on the Samiti. He said that the committee aims to reach to the remotest place to interact with villagers and impart education and engage other social activities for the welfare of the society. The organization also initiates and sponsors students for outside studies and engages them for the service of the people in the JVSN. 

The programme also included the release of a book by Thunbui Zeliang ‘Haipou Jadonang’ in both Hindi and English by the Governor. Short speeches were delivered by recipients; Manik Bhattacharji and Piyong Temjen Jamir. On behalf of Zaputuo Angami, vulnerable children from her Home presented a special song. After the Deep Prajwalan , Atul Jog welcome the gathering followed by a welcome song. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Wilubo Zeliang (MD), Secretary JVSN. The evening witness an extravaganza of cultural presentation after the function.
