Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): In a bold statement, a local organization has floated a “suggestion” that “youngsters who intend to celebrate holy matrimony in any Baptist Church should submit a blood test report through a medical board with the supervision of the concerned church.”
“In case the medical report is positive detection of such dreaded on either of the male or the female their marriage should not be allowed as because one of the major causes of HIV/AIDS is pre-marital sex among the youngsters,” stated an organization called the Dimapur District Ao Pensioners’ Union.
The organization gave the rationale for its appeal by saying that “disease cannot be tackled till date despite many efforts being made by different organizations and civil societies.” “The consensus views of the Union apprehends the major cause for the rapid spread of this virulent disease are uncontrolled influx of immigrants, risky lifestyle of youngsters and proximity of state being located near states where the scale of epidemic is one of the biggest in Asia,” the union stated.
The union explained: “We, the DDAPU had a long deliberation on this issue this burning issue in their Central Council and formulate a new resolution to the effect that those youngsters who intend to celebrate holy matrimony in any Baptist Church should submit a blood test report through a medical board with the supervision of the concerned church. In case the medical report is positive detection of such dreaded on either of the male or the female their marriage should not be allowed as because one of the major causes of HIV/AIDS is pre-marital sex among the youngsters.
If such preventive measures are not taken by the churches it will lead to spread of incurable disease from one generation to another generation.”
This may be a hurdle and fear psychosis to be created on the minds of the youngsters which may regenerate a decent lifestyle. Though this is not the total preventive measure, but at the same time, the other organizations have yet to play an important role for achieving our expected goal. We hope that suggestions of this Union would be appreciated by all the patriotic citizens of Nagaland. The union’s president I Meren Longchar and Secretary Y Imti Tzudir appended the note.
