Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): The newly recognised ‘Hongnyu village’ under Longleng district was inaugurated on June 5 with S Pangnyu Phom, Parliamentary Secretary for RD & REPA as the chief guest. He said that with the inauguration, Hongnyu village will have a place in the map of Nagaland state which will benefit not only the concerned village but also the district.
The chief guest, while assuring all possible help to the new village, said that each penny received from the government for development should be judiciously utilised. He also urged the people to continue to support and cooperate with the DAN government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in its endeavour to bring peace and development in the state. The chief guest donated Rs.1,00,000 to the village and further assured an amount of Rs.5,00,000 for development work in the near future.
Speaking as the guest of honour, Nihekhu Sema, Deputy Commissioner of Longleng, said that the government anticipates loyalty and cooperation from the village so as to deliver goods to the people. Sema further asked the village to live united and in peace and harmony for further growth and development of the village. He also donated Rs.10,000 towards the village.
Nuklu Phom, executive secretary for PBCA Longleng, said the invocation while public leader Phukyung Phom exhorted the gathering. Informing this, Hongnyu Village Council’s acting chairman, H Shahjei Phom, in a press release stated that the function was attended by a host of officers from Longleng, besides PPC president, ENPO president, Longleng Town Council chairman, NPF and NCP leaders and representatives from neighbouring villages.
