Jalukie, February 23 (MExN): A fire broke out in Samziuram ‘B’ Block Jalukie, under Peren district on February 22 destroying property worth approximately Rs 1.50 lakh. No casualties were reported.
According to a statement from the RO (E), Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) on Tuesday, on receiving a fire call, a team from Fire Station Jalukie was pressed into action. One katcha house along with household belongings were gutted in the inferno, the release stated.
However, due to timely information and response, fire was controlled and prevented from spreading to the surrounding houses. Property worth Rs 50,000 was salvaged by the F&ES team led by Duty Commander F/M Seikhojang Kuki, the release stated.
The fire was suspected to be caused by an electrical short circuit.
