DIMAPUR, APRIL 10 (MExN): Janata Dal (United) MLA Huska Sumi today replied to an earlier statement made by his party which gave the impression that the newly formed JD (U), Nagaland Unit to which he belongs is unhappy with his position over certain issues.
Wishing to make his “factual position crystal clear” for the information of the public in general and for the members of the JD (U) reorganized by the party’s National President George Fernandes in particular, Huska said, “As a responsible representative of the people, I consider that I should highlight the omissions and commissions of the Government which are directly effecting the welfare of the people of Nagaland adversely.” Hence, according to him, his opposition to anti-people policy and decision was done out of responsibility reposed on him but not out of personal tirade.
In connection to the notice served to the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on March 15 last expressing want of confidence under Rule 139 (1) (6) and Clause (2) of the Rules of procedure and conduct of Business in Nagaland Assembly, Huska said in a release that he has listed 9 points as not only outside the Common Minimum Programme but also detrimental to the welfare of the people of Nagaland.
“Assuming the motion was admitted, DAN leadership had the ample chance to refute the charges and claimed that those are all within CMP and the newly formed JDU, Nagaland Unit, was at liberty to fall in line.”
Huska further said he could ill-afford to attend the meetings of the newly-organised JD (U) as doing so would attract the 10th Schedule of Articles 102 (2) and 191 (2) Clause 2 (9) of the NLA (Disqualification on ground of Defection) because he has furnished information under Rule 3 (a) (b) (c) within thirty days after the sitting of the House. “My sincere advice is to Shri S Lima Temjen and Shri Nunglang Jamir to cross check the legal provision under which they are functioning,” he said.
