Dimapur, August 27 (MExN): The first phase of an orientation programme on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), DIKSHA, and cyber security for faculty and trainees of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) Dimapur concluded on August 25.
The programme, which was also held at DIET Chiechama and DIET Wokha, will cover the remaining DIETs in the second and third phases, a press release said.
The event at DIET Dimapur saw the participation of 100 individuals, the largest turnout in the first phase.
DIET Dimapur Principal Megowheno Khate welcomed the resource persons, including Daniel Thong Seb, Vice Principal and Head of IE and ICT at SCERT Nagaland, Er. Kezhalenuo Rutsa, a lecturer from DIET Chiechama, and Aylwin Semp, a lecturer from DIET Wokha.
Khate stated that the institute had long awaited such an orientation in this essential field and thanked SCERT Director Keviraleü Kerhuo for initiating it.
Resource person Er Kezhalenuo Rutsa highlighted the evolution from the older term ‘Educational Technology’ to the modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT), emphasising the bidirectional and indispensable relationship between ICT and education.
In his lecture, Aylwin Semp advised frequently updating passwords with strong cases to avoid hacking, noting that while hackers often seem a step ahead, informed practices can ensure protection.
Daniel Thong Seb announced the availability of e-textbooks in all 18 recognised Naga languages for classes 1 to 8, along with all SCERT and NBSE texts, on the DIKSHA Nagaland tenant, urging educators and the public to utilise the resource.
The session concluded with vote of thanks by Tianaro Longkumer, Vice Principal of DIET Dimapur.
