The 100 day campaign under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide assured safe water supply in schools and Anganwadi centres was held at Longmatra on November 16.
Kiphire, November 18 (MExN): The Executive Engineer, PHED Kiphire kicked off the 100 day campaign under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide assured safe water supply in schools and Anganwadi centres at Longmatra Block on November 16.
It was organized by DWSM, PHED Kiphire Division and sponsored by Sanitation and WSSO, PHED Nagaland, a press release from IEC Consultant PHED, Kiphire division, Tsarila L Sangtam stated.
According to the release, Junior Engineer, PHED Kiphire, Metmei Phom elaborated on the objectives and aims of the campaign. He said that under JJM, provision of piped water supply at all the strata namely, Schools, Anganwadi centres, Health centres and Household is not just theoretical but pragmatic in nature. He also urged all the concerned villages to extend cooperation and coordination and make the mission not just a vision but a reality.
Phom pointed out that along with the efforts put in by the government to provide its citizens with clean drinking water, it is equally important for the community to participate in maximum interest and put in the same effort to achieve the goal. He also asserted that the department will continue 100 day IEC campaign at various administrative units.
Sanitation & Hygiene Consultant, Limatemsu, spoke on the fundamental aspects of water borne diseases, how they are caused and why it is the need of the hour to apprise people at grassroots level. He also exhorted people to learn the art of cleanliness by adopting some basic mantras such as, washing of hand with soaps, organizing social work, maintenance of toilet etc.
Chemist, Horili Sangtam spoke on the quality of water and emphasized on why water testing was necessary. He also explained how water contamination can take place and suggested some remedies to tackle the menace.
IEC Consultant Tsarila L Sangtam also addressed the gathering, and stated that everyone is accountable and responsible in maintaining and sustaining a good and sound environment. She further urged all the attendees to equip themselves with the notion of cleanliness so as to protect themselves from various harmful diseases such as, COVID-19, Typhoid, Cholera, Diarrhoea etc.
