The Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) is all set to celebrate its 75th Anniversary from January 8–10, 2025 at Multi-Purpose Hall, Tewetso-ozwü, Sweba, Viswema under Kohima district.
The 75th anniversary celebration will be hosted by Viswema Students' Union under the theme “"Igniting Excellence."
This was announced during a media briefing at Hotel Japfü Kohima by Shürhovol Naleo, convenor organizing committee in the presence of SASU president Letso Mekro and general secretary Kevingoto Sachü.
Minister for Higher Education & Tourism, Temjen Imna Along will be grace the celebration as the special guest on January 9. He will unveil anniversary monolith.
Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, Er. Kropol Vitsu will be the valedictory guest on January 10.
Kevithuto Sophie, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur will be the introductory guest on January 8.
MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhütso & Chairman DPDB Kohima will be the academic guest on January 10.
MLA Kevipodi Sophie will be cultural session guest on January 9.
Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) will be the extravaganza nite guest on January 10.
The invitees for the celebration will include Southern Angami Sports Association, Southern Angami Public Organization, Southern Angami Women Organization, Southern Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho and Southern Angami Youth Organization.
Er. Tepul Hopovi, president SAPO will also exhort the gathering while greetings will be shared by Khriesamhalie David Mere, president Angami Students’ Union and experience sharing by Ane Khieya, EAC Kohima.
Vilhousa Seleyi, former president Angami Public Organization (APO) will pronounce elderly blessings.
There will be debate competition on the topic “Southern Angami people are understanding, peaceful and progressive.”
The celebration will also be marked by traditional fire making and group folk song competition.
The new team of SASU office bearers will also be introduced during the valedictory session.
Altogether, 13 units under SASU, comprising Khuzama, Kezoma, Jakhama, Pfüchama, Phesama, Mitelephe, Kezo-Basa, Viswema, Sakhabama, Kigwema, Mima, Kidima and Kezo town will join the celebration.
