IMFL worth Rs 41 lakh destroyed in Dimapur

Assorted IMFL worth Rs 41,25,700 at  street value was destructed at the premises of Commissioner of Excise, Dimapur on March 17.

Presenting a brief report during the programme, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur, T. Arilong Longkumer said the seizures were made during the period from July 2020 to December 2020 and a total of 103 cases have been registered for IMFL offences. A fine of Rs 1,97,000 was also realized in connection with the cases.

Commissioner of Excise, Hotolu Swu lauded the personnel of Excise & Prohibition, Narcotic Cell and Mobile Squad for the seizures and reminded them that their foremost priority was to “check the evil forces that were poisoning our youth and destroying families.” He said that the war against such elements and activities would continue and encouraged the excise and prohibition personnel to courageously perform their duties.

Additional Commissioner of Excise, Kevisetuo Angami informed that with only 325 excise personnel in the state, the department was still doing its best to enforce the law.

After the programme, the seized IMFL consisting of rum, whisky, beer, vodka and breezer were destructed in the presence of Excise & Prohibition officials.
