Participants of the fifth edition of math competition for Yaongyimsen school-going children (classes 1-10) held on October 4.

Mokokchung, October 9 (MExN): The fifth edition of math competition for Yaongyimsen’s school going children (classes 1-10) was held on October 4, at the residence of T Moa Longkumer whose family sponsored the entire event.
A total of 31 students supported by well-wishers and family members participated in the competition which was being held after a break due to the pandemic, stated a press release received here. Overall, Imlikumla of class-1 was declared the ‘Mathematician of the Year’ with a perfect score of 100. Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to the top three scoring students of each class.
Speaking on the occasion, Er A Atu Imsong encouraged the students by emphasizing on the importance of maths in everyday life. He highlighted the importance of building the concept of healthy competition and competitive activities to help children develop important skills they will use as adults. He also explained how maths helps in understanding the world around us as well as how it assists in building reasoning and problem-solving skills.
