DIMAPUR, MARCH 24 (PIB): The importance of Right to Information Act 2005 in the context of Nagaland in particular and other North-eastern states was stressed at the Public Information Campaign about the Flagship Programmes of the Central Government , at Town Hall on March 24.
Addressing a technical session on RTI Act Pradeep Pareek, Dimapur Correspondent of The Assam Tribune, said that the Act makes a government official accountable to his duty and public.
In his speech, the scribe raised a few examples of the successful implementation RTI Act in Nagaland and Meghalaya.
He further urged the general masses of Nagaland to willingly come forward to apply the Act in day to day life.
Participating in the panel discussion Dilip Sharma, Assistant Editor, Nagaland Page, spoke highly on the basic features of the Act.
He beautifully elaborated practical aspects of the Act.
Earlier, Pankaj Pandey, Senior Media & Communications Officer, PIB, offered the keynote address on the RTI Act.
In his speech Pandey said, “Democracy requires informed citizenry, transparency of information of its functioning and to hold government and its instrumentalities accountable to the governed.”
He further added that this Act has the tremendous potential to weed out the scourge of corruption from the society and from the system also.
