Inadequate teaching faculties at Wangkhao Govt College, KSU says

MON, JUNE 18 (MExN): The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has submitted a representation to the Director, Higher Education demanding action to address the inadequate teaching faculties at Wangkhao Government College as compared to other government colleges in Nagaland.

The union through its President T. Noklem Konyak and General Secretary A. Pangnan pointed out that the college has only 26 Asst Professors, out of which 14 are on contractual basis and the 12 others are on regular basis. The KSU expressed anguish at the concerned authorities not “paying any heed to the demands made by the union and the authority of the Wangkhao Government College regarding the shortage of Asst Professors.

This, the union stated, leads to rejecting hundreds of students every year because of insufficient creation of section for new semester. The union demanded immediate enhancement of 2 professors for English, 3 for Education, 2 for Economics, 1 for History, 3 for Political Science and 3 for Sociology before the resumption of this academic session for smooth functioning of the college.

On the same note, the union expressed dismay over the “blatant misuse of power by the Department of School Education” by transferring two teachers, viz Imsuwati (PT) of GMS Yannu Village and C Lemei Konyak (PT) of GMS Phuktong Village without reliever while knowing the fact that both the government  schools lack adequate teachers .

The union demanded immediate revocation of transfer orders and said that it “will not tolerate transfer of any teachers from Mon District without reliever.”
