Incessant rain damages houses in Kohima

Incessant rain for the past few days has caused landslide affecting atleast three private houses in Merhülietsa, Paramedical colony in Kohima.

Massive landslide occurred on Wednesday at around 11:45 am bringing down portion on land with plantation blocking National Highway-29 near Timber Mill.

John Sekhose said that incessant rain caused landslide damaging portion of his timber house and also affecting a RCC house on NH-29.

He said following the expansion work of NH-29 and construction of retaining wall, the area has been witnessing landslides every monsoon since 2018.

He recalled that in 2018 one of his timber houses was totally damaged, while Wednesday's landslide has put another timber house on the verge of collapse and also affected an Assam type house.
