Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): The Naga Hoho appeals to both the Indian army and the Naga underground groups to desist from aggravating “the situation.” The Naga Hoho issued a press release today denouncing the alleged intrusion of Assam Rifles troopers into the designated camp of the NSCN (IM) yesterday, April 19, in Dimapur.
The civil organization wondered “why the Indian soldiers are dying to commit unlawful activities when the Naga people are celebrating its Platinum Jubilee under the aegis of Nagaland Baptist Church Council with many foreign delegations from different parts of the world, disturbing the Christians with ulterior motives and sinister designs.”
The Naga Hoho asserted that the intrusion was “under the direction” of one Major Sukanta, camp commander, “a Metei by origin.” The ‘hoho’ said it is still aware of a similar incident that took place in the past at Pfutsero under the command of “one captain from Metei community.” The motive “to derail the peace process is highly questionable and beyond human comprehension,” the ‘hoho’ said.
Both the “Indian occupational forces” and the Naga “political” groups are appealed to “safeguard the hard earned peace in our land and desist from aggravating the situation, upholding the cease fire ground rules with all sincerity so as to fulfil the assurance given by the Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, to walk extra miles towards bringing Indo-Naga political settlement.”
The press release was appended by Naga Hoho president Keviletuo Kiewhuo, speaker HK Zhimomi and general secretary P Chuba Ozukum.
