Kohima Forest Division along with Tseminyu Range staff and villagers with the rescued Indian Pangolin.
Kohima, November 9 (MExN): On receiving information, the Kohima Forest Division rescued an Indian Pangolin found wandering at Logwesunyu village under Tseminyu range on the night of November 7.
The Indian Pangolin which is an endangered species and a nocturnal mammal was found wandering into the Logwesunyu village area by the village members.
Kohima Forest Division along with Tseminyu Range staff rescued the endangered species on November 8 which was then released into the wild in the presence of Tseminyu Range staff, village council members and youth members of the village, informed a press release received here.
Rajkumar M, IFS Divisional Forest Officer, Kohima has thanked the village members for their support in the rescue operation.
It may be mentioned here that the Indian Pangolin is one of the most trafficked mammals in the world and it is considered as an endangered species under International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and placed in Schedule I of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
