Kohima (MExN): The Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy is to be introduced in the whole of Nagaland very soon. According to available sources, the State has three Homeopathic doctors and 2 Ayurvedic doctors at present.
Since the system is being practiced in many pockets of the State, and compared to other systems of medicine, it is comparatively cheaper, the State government is committed to introduce the system in the entire state of Nagaland, sources said. The Department of Health and Family Welfare is also mooting the idea of creating more posts in Ayurveda and Homeopathy sectors.
It may be mentioned that the term Indian system of Medicine and Homeopathy covers both systems which originated in India as well as outside the country. However, these systems were fervently adopted in India in due course of time. The systems are Ayurveda, Sidha, Unani, Yoga, Naturopathy and Homeopathy. The central government has given the acronym-AYUSH to these systems of medicine.
