WOKHA, SEPTEMBER 5 (MExN): The five-member Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) arrived Wokha on September 5 to assess the areas affected by recent natural disasters such as floods, landslides due to incessant rainfall in Wokha district. The team held an interaction with members of the Wokha District Disaster Management Authority and concerned line departments.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon, IAS, while briefing the IMCT members at DC conference hall Wokha highlighted the disaster scenario in the district. He apprised the team about the measures undertaken like setting up of relief camps in the flood affected areas under Bhandari and Ralan sub-divisions, damage of roads and bridges, human-elephant conflict, immediate requirements, gratuitous relief given under the district etc.
The DC also added that the district has witnessed increase in rainfall comparing with the last past three years whereby causing floods and landslides in many parts of the district. Earlier in the day the team visited Ralan and Bhandari area under Wokha district to oversee the damage caused due to natural calamities.
The visiting team was accompanied by Home Commissioner, Nagaland Ramakrishnan, Secretary NSDMA Nagaland Rovilatuo Mor, OSD NSDMA and other officials from the state capital.
