NOKLAK, DECEMBER 12 (MExN): An Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visited DDMA Noklak for damage assessment in the district on December 12. The team was headed by Ravinesh Kumar from NDMA; Anil Kumar Singh, Under Secretary, Rural Housing Division, Department of Rural Development; and Ankit Umrao, Assistant Executive Engineer (C), Brahmaputra Basin Organization, Central Water Commission. The team was accompanied by David Thupitor, Assistant Manager (Administration) NSDMA, and Tsapi, Inspector of Statistics.

Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDMA, Noklak, K Mhathung Tsanglao welcomed the IMCT team and briefed them on the overall situation of the district. A presentation on the disaster situation of the district was presented by Tanghiu, District Project Associate, DDMA, Noklak. The team visited three major damage sites—Kiammong landslide, Punyaongan (Noklak) Landslide and High School sector A.

In Kiphire, the team was led by Ravinesh Kumar FA, NDMA; Anil Kumar Singh, Under Secretary, Rural Housing Division Department of Rural Development; and Ankit Umrao, Assistant Executive Engineer MORTH.

DC Kiphire T Wati Aier highlighted the activities of DDMA Kiphire. He said that in the year 2022 due to heavy windstorms and natural calamities many houses were damaged and even road connectivity was affected in many villages. The DDMA Kiphire along with the administration visited the affected areas and incentives were given to those affected villages.

Aier informed that awareness and training were held in various schools, public places, and offices by DDMA Kiphire to the students and public to be well prepared in times of earthquake and building collapse.

Later, the Power Department, and DEO Kiphire also highlighted some of the grievances and problems faced by the department. In this regard, the ministerial team informed them to apply to the NSDMA and matters will be looked into at the earliest. The central team also visited the places affected by a landslide at Forest ward Kiphire.
