International Women’s Day held in Longleng

Longleng, March 9 (MExN): A weeklong International Women’s Day celebration was organized by Sakhi-One-Stop Centre, in collaboration with various departments and organizations at Longleng from March 1 to 8.

 


Awareness campaign on One-Stop Centre (OSC) was held for the women union of Pongching and Mongtikang village under Longleng district. The centre administrator, C Henchem Phom gave a brief introduction and the services provided on OSC.  Nyanyungsangla, counsellor highlighted about the legal Rights and Acts.

 


The OSC in collaboration with Longleng Town Students Union organized a street play based on ‘Silence hides Violence. Whom to be blamed?’ with Deputy Commissioner, M Shayung Phom (NCS) as the special guest 
The OSC team in collaboration with NSRLM, RD, Longleng visited Yaongyimchen and Yachem and hosted awareness and singing, extempore speech competitions. 

 


The weeklong celebrations concluded with the observance of International Women’s Day at PSC Hall, Longleng with Yanithung Ezung SP, Longleng as the guest of honour and Caroline Nuklu as resource person. 

 


The program was chaired by Bauom, IT staff, OSC, Longleng, invocation by Nyayungsangla, welcome addressed was delivered by CA, OSC, Longleng. A poem on the theme was narrated by Chingphu and the special song was presented by the Soul Sisters. The program was attended by various wards presidents, students unions, organisations and converging departments. 

 


The District Task Force Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mahila Shakti Kendra-DLCW and Swachhta Pakhwada of Longleng district organized International Women’s Day for the Sakshi Block at Pongo village on March 8 with Yingliomei Phom Superintendent Phom Lempong Children Home, PBCA Nyengching, Longleng as the speaker.  
ADC Longleng, D Robin also spoke during the occasion. The Yangching Unionla presented special number while Tutinungla, District Coordinator MSK-DLCW led the pledge on Swachh Bharat Mission. 

 


Invocation was proposed by Yingmei Associate Pastor for women Yangching Baptist Church and welcome address by K Chungba, Chairman Pongo Village Council.  The Womenfolk under Sakshi Block attend the program.  It was chaired by P Phungla Phom, Women Welfare Officer MSK-DLCW.
