Dimapur | August 13 : NSCN/GPRN Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah landed at the Dimapur Airport from Delhi on Saturday afternoon and said they have come to meet the Naga people and discuss on the ongoing political talks with the Government of India (GoI).
Addressing media persons at the Airport, Swu said the NSCN leadership have come to meet the people with whom they will sit and discuss together the Naga issue within the next few days. He said the discussion will be on the nature and progress of the political talks with the GoI. Stating that both sides were trying to solve the issue at the earliest, Swu solicited prayer support of the Naga people to enable them to decide according to the call and will of God.
Supplementing the Chairman, Muivah asserted that both sides were serious enough and that it was high time to reach an honourable settlement. He, however, admitted that certain difficult problems were still unsolved which naturally might take time but expressed hope that both sides could overcome the difficulties.
Asked to elaborate on the concept of “shared sovereignty” with India, Muivah said “we have our sovereignty, they have also their sovereignty and so we have to understand each other and that should be the way to share sovereignty with each other.” He added that it would be difficult to make further elaboration at the moment.
Muivah said it was not a wonder that the Nagas are divided, pointing out that there also was no perfect unity anywhere in the world. He was responding to a query on whether he thought that Nagas were getting disunited in spite of the peace, unity and reconciliation move. “So it is not an exception,” he added. However, Muivah said though there could be differences at certain stages of time, yet there was no doubt that Nagas can understand each other.
Asked why the Naga Independence Day celebration this year was going to be a low-key affair, Muivah said people have to act according to times and situation adding “but we can understand people and people can understand us.” After the interaction, the two leaders were escorted to central headquarters Hebron.

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 13 (MExN): Welcoming the Collective Leadership to Council Headquarters, the Kilo Kilonser NSCN/GPRN Rh Raising has stated that Naga people were hoping that “you have come back today with good news from the Government of India”. Stating that “time factor counts in every thing”, the Kilo Kilonser pointed out that Naga people “want to see solution that brings a new era”.
“As the preacher says there is a time for war and a time for peace so also Nagas had a tough time for confrontation and now a good time for negotiations with the Government of India. But how long we will keep on talking with the Government of India?” a copy of the NSCN/GPRN functionary’s speech stated while welcoming Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and General Secretary Th. Muivah.
“Our people want to see solution that brings a new era. They are now looking forward for the leadership who begins construction in all fields. They have a big hope and trust in your leadership on this count too,” he told Swu and Muivah.
According to Raising, there are Nagas who advocated for peace when there was fighting and “people who advocate fighting when there is peace.” “There is also another class of people who pleads for solution at one go,” he explained. “These people love parroting on the roof top on principle. In fact, they do not care about how that principle is to be concretized. I hope our collective leadership is fully aware of all these facts.”
Asserting to be surrounded by “hostile elements who have been trying to pull back the wheel of history” he claimed that “many of them have joined forces with the NSCN” so also “Nagas from all walks of life look up to the collective leadership of NSCN for solution as well as reconciliation and unity among the Nagas.” He expressed confidence that the Nagas would surmount the hurdles and straddle the 21st century “under your leadership.”
