Dr SC Jamir feted for Padma Bhushan award
Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): Former Chief Minister of Nagaland and the Governor of Maharashtra, Goa and Odisha, Dr SC Jamir has been conferred the Padma Bhushan in the field of ‘Public Affairs’.
The award will be conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions to be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March/April every year.
Following the announcement made by the Ministry of Home Affairs, several individuals led by the Chief Minister of Nagaland and others have send congratulatory message to the veteran Naga politician Dr SC Jamir.
CM: “It is a well deserved honour and illustrates the significant contributions and sacrifices you have made in the past decades in the service of India's nationhood,” Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio stated in a message.
Stating that he consider himself fortunate to have also worked and served the country under your able leadership, Rio said, “During the years when we worked together, I have gained much experience and knowledge as you were an exemplary leader and I was fortunate to have you as a mentor from the early years when I first became an elected legislator.”
“You worked in the public field since the time of the inception of statehood, and later we worked together during some of the most difficult periods of our people's journey. I will always recollect those years with fond memories and extend my deepest appreciation to you for your guidance and leadership,” Rio stated.
“I wish you and your gracious wife good health, long life and hope that you will continue to play the role of elderly statesman to the Naga people for many more years to come,” Rio added.
Minister H&TE: Minister, Higher& Technical Education, Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along in his congratulatory message noted that it is a proud moment for the State of Nagaland that “our very own Dr SC Jamir has been conferred with the highest civilian award, the Padma Bushan award, in recognition of his distinguished services of high order in the service of the Nation.”
While extending congratulations, Minister Temjen Imna said that Dr SC Jamir is well known for his many commendable services all throughout his illustrious political career and the award is well deserved.
DAYO: The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) has congratulated Dr S C Jamir for being conferred the Padma Pushan award. “May the Almighty God bless you abundantly and wishing you a long life in the service to mankind and Nagas,” DAYO Media cell stated in a message.
