Jack’n Jill, the familiar Dimapur-based retail chain, ‘climbed’ another hill on December 16 with the opening of its latest mall in Chümoukedima. This is its fourth mall overall and third in the Nagaland.
The mall located at Shüya Complex, 2nd Gate Ward No 6, Chümoukedima was officially declared opened by Seyiekhrietuo Solo, the Extra Assistant Commissioner of Chümoukedima.
Speaking on the occasion, Solo said that Jack’n Jill can pride itself as one of the first multi-brand shopping malls in the state – known among others for quality product and services. He called the opening 'a gift' for Chümoukedima and further lauded the proprietor, the land owner and citizens of Chümoukedima. It was informed the complex was located in Shüya Khel Chümoukedima.
The spacious three-storeyed mall is perhaps the biggest standalone shop in the town, offering consumers from different age groups wide-ranging shopping experiences.
Everything that you get in Dimapur, the same are available here. Starting from cosmetics, garments, toys, lifestyle products, watches and so on, informed Suarav Dey, the son of Raju Dey, who first started Jack’n Jill as a standalone readymade garment in Dimapur in 1983.
A new addition is the grocery section at the Chümoukedima mall. The mall is giving employment opportunities to upto 50 people, Saurav told The Morung Express, on the sideline of the event. Except for the store manager, all the staff is recruited from here, he added.
Starting out as a garment shop in 1983, it later became of popular shopping destination in Dimapur, particularly for consumers looking for high-quality apparels.
It later expanded into a multi storeyed- multi brand shopping mall in 2003 at the Hazi Park road, in the popular Hong Kong Market. Thereafter, Jack’n Jill spread out of Dimapur to open an outlet at PR Hill in State’s capital Kohima in 2016. The success of the ‘brand’ was apparent as four years after, it branched out to open its first store outside Nagaland in Mizoram’s capital Aizawl in December 2020.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Kezhalelhou Shüya, started with invocation by Kengulhoulie Shüya, while Thepfühoutuo Shüya exhorted the gathering and Neikholie Shüya proposed the vote of thanks. Thereafter, the mall was officially declared opened for business with the cutting of ribbon by EAC Solo, and leading the gathering into mall for inspection and shopping.
