Jalukie block tourney begins

Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): The 7th Block tournament of Jalukie town, organised by the Jalukie Town Youth Organisation (JTYO) began today in High School Ground, Jalukie. Revived again after the last tournament held in 1996, the event saw a huge turnout of crowd, well-wishers and sporting personalities from the valley. Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Chuba Longkumer, BDO Tening, who was also a veteran footballer from Jalukie, emphasized on the need to reconsider on the importance of one’s health which he said can be achieved only through involvement in games and sports.  "He who has health has hope; he who has hope has everything", stated the Chief Guest while also not forgetting to deliver on the importance of the principles involved in sports to one’s personal life. "Sports develop the spirit of oneness and enhance social relationship and harmony. A sportsman is mentally strong thus enabling him to handle both success and failures in life at ease. He also manages the competitive environment with hope and confidence and is able to take wise and quick decisions in life as well. Culture, custom and ideals may differ but sports can unite them" the Chief Guest said while encouraging the initiative taken by JTYO to revive sports in the valley.  Earlier speaking on the occasion, the President of JTYO, Victor Mpom also expressed his profound gratitude to all for the successful organizing of the mega event. The President was also hopeful that the revived event will inculcate the feeling of sportsmanship in the valley which will not only confine sports as a career but also a vital force to bring awareness on the importance of good health.  The event also witnessed a good number of veteran players who have totally given up sports due to various circumstances in life. The C.O, 32 Assam Rifles Jalukie has also consented to be among the dignitaries present on the finale of the tournament.
