Jami throws light on NSCN (IM) proposal

DIMAPUR, DEC 12 (MExN): Former NSCN (IM) leader and presently MIP Kilonser of the NSCN (K) A.Z Jami has in a statement divulged that as per the fresh proposal submitted by the NSCN (IM) to the Government of India in February 2005, it provided for a separate state of Naga Inhabited Areas (NIA) with two tiers of legislative structure under a Governor with Konyak and Zeliangrong Autonomous Councils.

“This feature is not a new thing. But all the bigger separate states in India are already having two tiers of legislature, namely, Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly”.

Jami made this statement while refuting reports that he was responsible for giving inputs to his new organization aimed at tarnishing the image of the NSCN (IM).

“Who am I that I should incite or encourage the NSCN leaders to say or write something? Rather, I am learning many things from them”, Jami clarified. In this regard, he maintained that he was unaware about even the February 2005 proposal submitted by the NSCN (IM). “It was read by me only in the last part of November 2005 from the hands of some NSCN (K) leaders”, he stated and pointed out that this was the plight of most NSCN (IM) leaders who he stated were frequenting Bangkok, Amsterdam and Delhi in the name of political talks.

On the February 2005 proposals, Jami stated that his own conscience could not permit him to participate in such agreements. “When I saw the last fresh proposals of the NSCN (IM) in the last week of November 2005, I feel I had taken the right decision to leave the IM camp”, Jami stated.
