Dimapur, April 15 MExN): The JCPI during an emergency meeting on Wednesday deliberated on the consultative meeting convened by the Government of Nagaland on proper modalities and systems to achieve the objective of RIIN.
JCPI as the “mandated committee empowered by all tribal apex bodies and CSOs of Nagaland” has reminded the stakeholders not to revert back on the cut off year of December 1, 1963, when Nagaland attained its statehood with constitutional mandate.
“Any compromise is tantamount to self destruction. The standing notification dated Kohima, the 28th April 1977 should be enforced in toto covering the entire State of Nagaland,” stated a press release issued by JCPI Convenor, Atomi Swu and Secretary, Tia Longchar.
“The representatives also decided to inform their respective apex bodies that only on the standing notification there is documented data on indigenous inhabitant and any other year will open up a pandora box of controversies,” it said.
Also the members present expressed their resentment of JCPI not being invited for the consultative meeting. It was decided that “any resolution that contradicts and defeats the very purpose of ILP/RIIN implementation should be opposed by all means.”
It also urged upon all concern to “uphold its collective decision on our fundamental issue.”
