The Dimapur District Administration and District Level Centre for Women-MSK, BBBP organised a two-day jewellery making training on November 6 and 7.
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 8 (MExN): A two day training programme on jewellery was organized by the Dimapur District Administration and District Level Centre for Women-MSK, BBBP at the DCs’ Conference Hall on November 6 and 7.
A press release informed that the progamme was conducted with the objective of promoting entrepreneurship amongst women under the theme ‘Empowering women through skill development’ for unemployed women, single mothers and school dropout girls.
The resource person of the session was Moasola Jamir a young entrepreneur from Kohima, Nagaland. The opening session of the program began with the welcome address delivered by the District Coordinator, DLCW-MSK, Dimapur.
Avonuo Kire, Extra Assistant Commissioner Hq (Development) and also the Nodal Officer of DLCW-MSK, Dimapur graced the session and encouraged the participants to make the best use of the opportunity and also to polish their skills for empowering themselves.
She also stated that due to the ongoing pandemic situation there is a lot of unemployment issues and lack of opportunities for livelihood. Jewellery making and marketing it through e-commerce can be a very good opportunity for them to be independent economically as it is the current trend among people, she stated.
Kire further said that people from outside the state prefer products which are locally made and therefore women should come forward in making the best utilization of what they have been taught and continue to keep working with more dedication.
She appreciated the efforts taken up by the DLCW-MSK team and assured that the District Administration and the DLCW-MSK, Dimapur will provide support to women and children who need guidance.
During the programme, the participants were taught to make different types of jewellery earrings with limited amount of resources required for producing it.
Two best trainees were selected by V Lovitoly Sema, ADC, Dimapur at the end of the training and were provided with certificates and cash prize. All together 20 participants attended the programme and were provided with certificates at the end of the programme.
