KOHIMA, OCTOBER 12 (MExN): The Jo Foundation Inclusive School (JFIS) celebrated its Parents Day cum Cultural Day on Saturday at RCEMPA, Jotsoma, under the theme “Celebrating Tradition, Talent and Togetherness.”
Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, Secretary and Chairperson of NBSE (Additional Charge), who graced the occasion as the special invitee, said being a parent brings immense joy alongside significant responsibilities. He urged parents to spend quality time with their children, noting that lack of engagement could lead to disconnection affecting their academic, social, and emotional development.
Appreciating the students for showcasing their talents and the rich cultural traditions of Nagaland, Nsarangbe emphasised the importance of preserving culture as part of one’s identity. He encouraged children to learn folk songs, dances, and festivals to stay connected to their roots. Highlighting the National Education Policy 2020, he stressed that in the age of technology, academic degrees alone are insufficient. Children must be equipped with life skills, communication abilities, and creative competencies to thrive in a competitive world.
During the programme, Deputy Chairperson of Kohima Municipal Council, Khrielievi Chusi, addressed the gathering on behalf of parents. The welcome address was delivered by JFIS Chairman and Proprietor Daniel Thong Seb, while Administrator Keyokhole Ltu Lcho proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Headmistress Kupe-u Kupa.
The event featured vibrant performances by students, including traditional songs, folk dances, Naga indigenous games, dramas, and chorus presentations. The displays highlighted the diversity and richness of Naga culture, providing both children and parents an immersive experience of the state’s heritage.
