Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): A jungle fire broke out at Central Institute of Horticulture Medziphema, Dimapur on February 24.
According to a press release from the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services Nagaland, on receiving a fire call at 2:39 pm on February 24, a fire and emergency services team from Fire Station Chümoukedima led by Duty Commander ASI Thangpong Khiamniungan proceeded to control the fire.
Fire tenders along with sufficient equipment and fire personnel were pressed into action and it took them an hour and a half to douse the fire.
An area of approximately 2 hectares was damaged in the fire; however, due to timely information and response, fire was controlled and prevented from spreading further. There was no casualty in the incident.
According to the press release, the cause of fire could not be ascertained.
