Allotted in 2019, no work till date; School building on the verge of collapse
Kiphire, March 9 (MExN): The Kiphire Area Students’ Union (KASU) on Tuesday voiced its resentment against ‘irresponsible contractors’ for non-implementation of work allotted at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Kiphire.
According to a press release issued by the KASU President Trongdiba C Sangtam and General Secretary Tarsesh, work orders were issued to two contractors namely Vitoi Sangtam and Joshua Sangtam for construction of Auditorium Hall and renovation of Government Higher Secondary School Kiphire on March 4, 2019.
As per information received, the work order was awarded to the said contractors in 2019 by the Planning and Coordination Department, Government of Nagaland, sanctioned under Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The Union observed that no initiative or progress has been seen in carrying out the said work order and thereby execution of the same has been neglected till date.
The stipulated time for completion of the work stated in the work order is 18 months which has already expired, the Union said.
The execution of any governmental development is the need of the hour in Kiphire, an aspirational district, the Union asserted.
The KASU further said that students are suffering immensely with no auditorium hall. The old school building also needs immediate renovation and maintenance as it is ‘at the verge of collapse if not mended at the earliest’ endangering the life of students and faculty members, it added.
In this regard, the KASU appealed to the competent authority to “strictly instruct the said contractors in executing the work within a time frame or re-tender the said work order to some sincere and responsible persons for the upliftment of students’ community and public in general.”
