KOHIMA, DECEMBER 19 (MExN): The Women’s Department of Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) Silver Jubilee celebration started on December 18 with a grand celebration at the Koinonia Prayer Centre in Tsiesema Basa. The event celebrated under the theme, "... Rejoice, highly favoured one, the Lord is with you..." (Luke 1:28).
Delivering the sermon for the occasion, Rev Dr Zotuo Kiewhuo, Founder and Senior Pastor of KBC and Principal of Kohima Bible College, described a godly woman as being "more precious than a ruby" and shared inspiring stories of women from the Bible whose courage and faith left an indelible mark on history. These included figures like Hannah, Ruth, Esther, and Rahab, whose perseverance through trials turned curses into blessings.
He also reflected on the strength of women during the time of Jesus, particularly highlighting Mary Magdalene. He pointed out that, after being healed by Jesus, Mary followed Him to the crucifixion site, and was the first to witness the resurrection. He emphasised Mary, the mother of Jesus, as an epitome of forgiveness, and praised her strength in enduring her son's suffering while still showing grace.
Further, he encouraged the women in attendance to draw inspiration from these biblical figures and to remain steadfast in their faith. Rev Kiewhuo stressed the importance of continuing to serve the Lord with zeal through prayer, giving, and outreach ministry, as well as embracing the uniqueness and favour of each woman in God's eyes.
Greetings were delivered by Keneisonuo Sonuo Üsou, the first Chairperson of the Women’s Department, while Neilaviü Suokhrie read out the scripture. The program was led by Medotsilieu Kiewhuo, Pastor and current Chairperson of the Women’s Department.
The celebrations featured musical performances, including the Koinonia Theme Song by the combined choir and special songs by Azhanuo Kenguruse, the Deborah Group, the Youth & Junior CYE Choir, and the Jubilee Choir. Additionally, Rev. Dr. Zotuo Kiewhuo released the Jubilee Souvenir Magazine during the service.
Earlier in the day, a monolith commemorating the Silver Jubilee was dedicated and unveiled at the Koinonia Baptist School Compound in Kohima. The jubilee celebration will continue till December 20.
