KDFA Grassroot Football Tournament concludes

The three-day Grassroot Football Tournament organised by Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) under the aegis of Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and held at IG Stadium Kohima culminated on Friday.

The tournament saw hundreds of young players participating in the three categories including Under-10, Under-13 and Under-15.

In the U-10 category, Khelo India Centre, IGS Kohima 'A' emerged as the champion while Children's Club was placed in the second position. In the under-13 category, Khelo India Centre Greenwood School Dimapur emerged as the winner while Sechü Zubza FC was placed in the second position. In the U-15 category, Kezekevi FC emerged as the winner while Young Challengers FC Medziphema was placed in the second position.

Best players of the tournament in the U-10 category went to Zhothi Lohe from Children's Club, U-13 to Meyielie Khrodi from Sechü Zubza FC, U-15 to Nouneser Thepa from Young Challengers FC Medziphema.

Guest of honour during the prize distribution ceremony, NFA president, K Neibou Sekhose, said the event was a first of its kind in the State. He pointed out that the final day of the event coincided with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) National Grassroot Day which was being held to commemorate the birth anniversary of renowned Indian footballer and coach Pradeep Kumar (PR) Banerjee.

Sekhose also said AIFF had launched the grassroot program logo for Blue Cubs, the flagship program that aims to establish a robust foundation for Indian Football which was also a part of the strategic roadmap "vision 2047".

A total of 30 teams took part in the three categories during the three day event.

The prize distribution was compered by Medolenuo Loucü while Viliebeizo Liezietsu proposed the vote of thanks.
