Khiamniungan region is ‘perfectly safe and strong’: Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) clarifies

Dimapur, December 12 (MExN): The Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) today affirmed that the "Khiamniungan region under NSCN/GPRN is perfectly safe and strong under the current regional authority," dismissing recent reports to the contrary as "completely absurd and misleading."

“The region's members, led by its Region Chairman and Region Guard Commander, pledge to continue upholding Naga national sovereignty under the dynamic leadership of President Yung Aung, no matter what,” stated a clarification received here from the MIP of the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K).

The clarification came in response to a recent statement from the Ang Mai-led NSCN (K), which claimed that all ranks of the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) in the Khiamniungan region, led by Major General Todimong, had "united" with the former.

However, the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) dismissed this claim as nothing more than a "propagandist tool to malign the good image of NSCN/GPRN and mislead the Naga public."

Instead, the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) described Maj Gen Totemong as a "habitual defector with no real significance within the party." According to the clarification, he defected from “the NNC in 2013 and has since disconnected himself from the daily affairs of the party.”
“The NSCN/GPRN is not caught by surprise; in fact, the Angmai group is a fitting ground for pseudo-nationalists like Maj Gen Totemong,” it stated, alleging that the group has been on a "hunting spree for corrupt businessmen and misguided individuals in order to counter the Naga national struggle spearheaded by the NSCN/GPRN."

Meanwhile, the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) stated that the only agenda of the Angmai group is to seek a "mere development package from the Myanmar military" and that they would not contribute anything positive for the betterment of the Nagas but instead "loot the public in the name of development."

It also accused the Angmai group of using "every opportunity to discredit President Yung Aung with false and baseless allegations."
The Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) further accused the "Angmai group and their proxies" of conniving with the military junta to jeopardize the Naga area.

“Any misstep by these groups will not be overlooked; they will be held responsible for any blunder and shame brought to the Eastern Naga people,” it added.

The Eastern Naga people must neither be "underestimated nor undervalued," as they would never "accept anything that betrays their political and historical right and their right to co-exist with their Western Naga brothers," the Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) concluded.

“Naga sovereignty is not about personal ambitions and business, but about sweat, tears, and true sacrifice,” it added.
