Call for peaceful coexistence, progressive society

The members of Khonoma Thevomia Union Nagaland and Rachümi Khel Panchayat (Viswema) converged for reaffirmation of the age-old friendship between them at Thevomia Khel, Khonoma under Kohima district on February 28.
Through the platform of “Khwüno-Thevo & Viswe-Rachü Thino Nyi 2026,” they greeted each other and celebrated together the values of friendship, cooperation, and collective responsibility that have sustained the relationship across centuries.
The brotherhood feast, symbolizing solidarity and unity among them, is regarded as one of the earliest brotherhood feast in Tenyimia history.
Members of both clans came together in unity and reaffirmed their commitment to social harmony and vowed to stand collectively for the larger cause of the Nagas.
“The celebration aims not only to commemorate this sacred bond but also to renew and strengthen it for future generations,” the organizer stated.
Marking the occasion, Nagaland’s Women Resources Development & Horticulture minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse unveiled the monolith at Phetsukiku.
The monolith featured the clan names of Khwüno-Thevo as Zinyü, Chasie, Sophi, Ziekhrü, Punyü, Yalie, Kruse, Yalietsu, Pier, Hieme, Talie, Khrieliezhü and Whiso. For Viswe-Rachü as Kin, Kweho, Lcho, Neikha, Noswe, Pusa, Rhütso, Sothu and Theyo.
The gathering noted the importance to embrace their roles as responsible citizens, contribute meaningfully to social causes, and work toward a future that safeguards the welfare and identity of generations to come.
‘Ism and disunity hamper the growth of the society’
Addressing the gathering, Salhoutuonuo Kruse acknowledged the far-sighted vision of the forefathers in advocating unity and peaceful co-existence and hoped that the friendship bond between Thevomia and Rachümi would endure for generations.
She said that the brotherhood feast, reaffirming the aged-old friendship ties between the two, marked a significant step in preserving a relationship tracing back to the headhunting era symbolising courage, loyalty, mutual respect and shared heritage.
She said that ism and disunity which hamper the growth of the society, must be erased from the minds of each and every individuals.
Stating that peace is prerequisite for progress, she urged upon the Nagas to maintain peace and unity.
She said that the aspiration of the people can be fulfilled through love, peace and unity.
MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhütso maintained that the coming together of Thevomia and Rachumi through this brotherhood feast, has strengthened the friendship ties between the two.
He thanked Thevomia for their warm hospitality and goodwill gesture towards Rachümi to live in a harmonious relationship and progress together.
He also invited Thevomia to Viswema next time.
‘Contribute to social well-being’
Also speaking on the occasion, Abi Yalie, former president NSF and APO, expressed deep concern over the social ills in the present Naga society and urged upon the members of Thevomia and Rachümi to rise to the occasion and contribute to social well-being.
He also asked them to spread the message of peace and unity amongst the Nagas.
Pusashe Lcho, former treasurer APO stressed on the build stronger relationships, trust and loyalty.
Kediho Pusa, Chairman, Rachümi Khel Panchayat shared greetings while Kepelhuto Punyü, president Khonoma Thevomia Union Nagaland delivered welcome address.
Elderly blessings was pronounced by Kovor Kuotsu.
Khwüno-Thevo & Viswe-Rachü Thino Krotho secretary Vitsorel Lcho highlighted the activities of the Krotho.
Dr Kedozeto Punyü chaired the unveiling programme of the monolith.
The main programme was chaired by Nisavi H Kuotsu, Convenor, Khwüno-Thevo & Viswe-Rachü Thino Krotho while vote of thanks was proposed by Mhiesizokho Zinyü, former president APO.
