Altogether, twenty young contestants have qualified for the screening round; nine contestants from Dimapur, eight from Kohima, two from Mokokchung and a lone contestant from Tuensang.
The screening or elimination round for the talent hunt will be held in the month of August at Dimapur, disclosed Kashito Kiba, the managing director of Pheto Music Association. The judges for the screening/elimination will be Moanungsang (Naga Idol 2006), Jethro Merry (Chamber Choir member) and Kashito Kiba the MD of Pheto Music Association). 15 year old Tiasola Imchen and 17 year old Nungshitemsu were selected from Mokokchung while Adila Sangtam (16 years) was selected from Tuensang district.
20 contestants make it to the next round
Speaking with media persons after the Mokokchung audition held at Cosmos Entertainment Hall, PMA MD, Kashito Kiba termed this Season 3 of Kids for Fame as the best one so far, and that the response from the interested contestants is better as compared to the previous editions of the contest.
Highlighting his experiences after dealing with the young talented singers in the state, Kiba asserted that the kids taking part in the contest are really talented. However he lamented that the support from the parents is lacking, since many parents think that participating in such contests will spoil their children’s life. Nonetheless, Kiba maintained that the society should ‘catch them young’ and these talented kids need to be moulded so that when they grow up, they can grow professionally in their singing careers, enabling them to go even to the international levels.
The Kids for Fame – Season 3 will culminate, tentatively, in the second week of October, 2011. The contest carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a year’s education scholarship for the winner. The Kids for Fame – Season 3 shows will be hosted by Ruth Chang.
