DIMAPUR, AUGUST 28 (MExN): Gracing the music fest of the Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church (DSBC) youth department on Saturday last as the chief guest, additional secretary to the government of Nagaland Kikheto Y. Sema IAS drew the attention of the youngsters to the current scenario in the Naga society and urged them to be torchbearers of peace and unity.
Youngsters being one of the most important component and stakeholders of the society, Kikheto said that they should lead the way in working towards a peaceful and united Naga society. Alluding to one of the first meetings for Naga reconciliation held at DSBC in September 25, 2008, the chief guest said that the particular Church should play a bigger and wider role and accordingly contribute towards common Naga future. He called upon the Church to imbibe the youngsters in the lessons of peace, honesty, humbleness, unity etc besides the lesson of salvation.
According to the chief guest, God has created three important institutions for mankind namely; family, government and the Church. Kikheto said all the three institutions were interrelated but he chose to place the family in the first significant list saying that the latter two institutions will be rendered meaningless unless the family was set in order. Elaborating on this point, he maintained that the peaceful and happy atmosphere and the good that comes out a family are evident in the affairs of the government and Church activities. Even if the job in government sector and the Church activities seem satisfying, people will not have peace of mind back home when the family in utter disarray, Kikheto added and emphasized on giving priority to the family.
No matter how impossible solving the problem might seem, once it is solved the simplicity in overcoming the problem is amazing, Kikheto said and encouraged the youngsters not to be bogged down by the seeming tough problems they face in day-to-day activities. He urged them to avoid procrastinations but continually solve problems without backlogs.
Earlier, DSBC Senior Pastor, Rev Phughoto Aye said the invocation. DSBC Youth Pastor, Hokito Swu said the music fest was organised with the objective of providing a platform for the young people to expose their talents. The competition was categorized into four categories such as solo, quartet, musical talent and beat contest. The music fest was held under the theme, “I will sing a new song.” (Psalms 144:9).
