Kiphire civil societies write to CM for ‘normal and sustainable restoration’

Kiphire, August 30 (MExN): During the visit of Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio to Kiphire on August 30, a joint representation on behalf of the people of Kiphire district was submitted by the United Sangtam Likhum Pümji (USLP), Yimchunger Tribal Council (YTC) and Eastern Sumi Hobo (ESH).

It has been two months since the supply of essential commodities to Kiphire district has been completely cut off due to landslides.

The 3 civil societies stated that Kiphire to Tuensang road was blocked due to landslide near Yahi Bridge. Kiphire to Zunheboto road was also blocked due to Tuthsa Bridge collapse and was eventually washed away and Kiphire to Kohima road was also blocked due to landslides at various locations.

They highlighted that the civil societies in collaboration with District Administration and Head of Departments have been working round the clock to meet the demands and need of the public. “However, normal and sustainable restoration can never be assured without the state government intervention and state government special assistance,” stated the joint representation appended by USLP Vice President K Tsilise Sangtam; YTC Secretary Y Makhezho and ESH President Vikato Sumi.

The civil societies highlighted that at these hard times, the supply of essential commodities become herculean task to handle as even the alternate roads that conned the district (Kiphire to Zunheboto and Kiphire to Tuensang) roads remain blocked.

They appealed to the CM to take the situation at hand with top priority to bring the district into normal condition by restoring the whole stretch of roads that connect the district and also give the district sustainable development in the name of aspiration.
