Kiphire reeling due to shortage of essential commodities: SASU

KIPHIRE, AUGUST 26 (MExN): With landslides cutting off all the roads leading to Kiphire district, the public of the district continue to suffer due to extreme shortage of essential commodities.

Despite the district administration working tirelessly to deliver basic needs to the public, the inability of heavy vehicles to ply between Dimapur to Kiphire has led to shortage of essential commodities and has severely affected both the public and business establishments, a press release issued by Seyochung Area Students Union (SASU) stated on Sunday.

In this connection, SASU has appealed the Nagaland Chief Minister to ensure early construction of the damaged roads between Meluri and Kiphire in the interest of the common people. It lamented that despite four weeks of road blockade to Kiphire, the state government was not sincere enough in hastening the constructing of roads affected by landslides.
