Kohima, August 17 (MExN): The Kohima Lotha Eloe Ekhüng (KLEE) has organised a one day seminar on “Legal awareness for women, general health awareness and role of women” on August 16 at APO Conference Hall, Kohima.

This programme was co-sponsored by Kohima Lotha Hoho as a prelude to the upcoming 50th years celebration of Kohima Lotha Hoho.

Talking on Legal awareness, Apila Sangtam, Advocate, Guwahati High court Kohima bench highlighted the various types of violence against women including POSH Act and the right procedure to take up for complaints against such violence.

Stating that women are not safe anymore in Nagaland, Apila urged the womenfolk to stand for each other and be a  responsible woman.

She encouraged the KLEE to start dialogue among them.

Dr. Zuchamo Patton, Sr. Specialist ( Radiation Oncologist, NHAK spoke on health awareness.

Dr.Patton said that Nagaland ranked among the top 10 in cancer due to food habits in India out of which 37% of cancers in Nagaland are tobacco related and as per 2015-2016 data, 25% female are smokeless tobacco users.

Dr. Patton pointed out that breast cancer is the 3rd most common cancer in the state among the women and urged the women to do exercise daily to keep themselves healthy and avoid packed/processed food.

KLEE president Renboni Ezung talked on role of women.

Earlier, Kohima Lotha Hoho chairman  K. N. Mhonthung Lotha appreciated the KLEE for organizing the much needed seminar for the womenfolk and urged the gathering to continue  and work together for the upliftment of the society.

The programme started with an invocation prayer by Mhonchumi Ngullie, Ex Women Co-ordinator, City church while Chumchano Ezung enthralled the gathering with a special number.

Vote of thanks and benediction was delivered by Chumbeno Kithan, Cultural Secretary, KLEE.
